The late visual artist Mohammad Muhraddin, born in Basra in 1938-2015, completed his primary and secondary education there before moving to Baghdad. In the capital, he entered the Institute of Fine Arts and graduated in 1959. Muhraddin then traveled to Poland, where he studied art and earned a master's degree in drawing and graphics. Influenced by the artistic movements in Poland and Spain, he is recognized as a modernist figure in contemporary Iraqi art, particularly for his exploration of the physics of color in visual arts. Muhraddin stands out as one of the prominent Iraqi artists of the 1960s and 1970s.
